Automation Engineer

Overview

PepsiCo in Rotterdam is looking for Automation Engineer.

The purpose of the role is to create availability on the automation part of the total 3 NL plants by executing complicated problem solving. Automation Engeneer has thorough knowledge of automation to guarantee the productivity of the installations in the plants. Automation Engeneer ensures correct implementation of new installations or any changes to existing installations. Is accountable for the whole automation part for total NL plants and is the manager of the junior automation engineer.

Responsibilities

Support plant preventative maintenance to reduce planned downtime and corrective maintenance:

  • Support the team effort at information flow to prepare daily QCDM in a minimum time window
  • Support the team to grow of the quantity and quality of the automation preventative mainteinance planning
  • Support the team knowledge by driving quantity and quality of the automation training program
  • Support mechanics with regard to all automation problems.
  • Train the mechanics in the basic principles of automation in the factory in order to solve standard automation related problems their selfs. 
  • Failure analysis in the field of automation via online diagnosis in PLC program > find out the root cause of failure and, with or without the support of technicians, take the appropriate actions to solve downtime. 

    • Support plant corrective maintenance to a minimum unplanned downtime of process and packaging by:

  • Support lean in the daily team maintenance meetings to set daily safe delivery priorities and own parts of corrective and RCA actions
  • Drive lean in all your communications
  • Support team information flow with and support to operations
  • Drive OEEE design and execution
  • Correction of complex problems/malfunctions to PLC/SCADA and/or computer-controlled installations. 

    • Support plant reliability to reduce unplanned downtime, to reduce maintenance budget and reduce technical stock inventory by:

  • Support team improvement of problem solving to root cause by act preventative at safe delivery priorities espessialy on automation part
  • Own automation project management on performance gaps
  • Support in projects and in modifications of process control areas. 

    • Reduce plant slow running by

  • Support team project management at automation and operational performance gaps
  • Develop new and improve existing control/software systems after performing system analyses.
  • Maintain and optimize process control systems (Industrial IT)

    • Internal stakeholders

  • Maintain good contacts with the internal department BIS (Business Information Systems) within PepsiCo. 
  • Maintain good contacts with the product specialists within the factories.
  • Coordinate communication between Maintenance, Industrial IT-partner and Engineering. 

    • SAFETY: Support plant safety injuries to a minimum by:

  • Support team safety culture to zero risk taking
  • Provide montly near misses
  • Provide weekly STOP observations
  • Support team Lock out Tag out execution
  • Support team permits execution and auditation on electrics/automation to a green kpi score
  • Support and parlty own team execution of the HSE duty holding ship to 100%

    • Qualifications

  • At least 5 yrs experience in a automation role in an industrial area
  • Proven track record with continuous improvement processes and lean manufacturing
  • Detailed knowledge of PLC management software or automation software (Archestra wonderware, Rockwell factory talk view SE, Simatic manager Step 7, Allen Bradley, Siemens PLCs, GE Proficy) or willing to learn
  • Proven experience with control systems such as PLC / SCADA, DCS and/or MES systems, with Allen Bradley and Siemens S7
  • Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet, Profibus DP / SA, Asi)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • HBO / BA working and thinking skills
  • Fluent in Dutch and English language
  • Previous people management experience is preferred.
