Chemical Engineer to join our Applied Research Team

Located at the ECCO Leather HQ in Dongen, we are looking for a Chemical / Environmental Engineer to join our team in Applied Research.

Applied Research ECCO is looking into sustainable solutions reducing chemical, water & energy consumption, while reducing of solid waste streams within our tanneries. We are aiming either to avoid the use of process water or were processes water is required we would like to close the water loop. Needless to say within the same leather quality performance ECCO Leather stands for. This in order to reduce our environmental impact in alignment with our company environmental targets.

Position description:

We are looking for someone to scout and evaluate existing and innovative solutions to reduce our environmental impact. By analyzing and mapping water & waste streams of our tanneries. Conducting from lab scale proof of concept, various sizes of Pilot Scale tests up to the design phase of a full scale solution incl. hand-over and implementation support to the operational team.

Daily tasks include:

  • Sampling, analyzing and mapping water and waste streams.
  • Setting-up test plans incl. scale, resources, timeline, budget and milestones.
  • Lab scale proof of concept testing.
  • Various Pilot Scale visibility testing incl. preparations, documentation and operations incl. optimization of the Pilot Plants.
  • Support the design phase of the full scale solution incl. hand-over and implementation support of new solutions towards the operational team.
  • Documenting & Reporting results incl. conclusion outcome with recommended next steps.
  • Communication of relevant findings to multidisciplinary team and other internal & external stakeholders.
  • Who we need:

    For you to succeed in this position it is important that you are a hands-on professional with a chemical background passionate about process innovation in a production environment.

  • As this position is very specialized, we envision a background as:

  • Minimum Bachelor or Master Degree Chemical EngineerEnvironmental Technology Management
    Water Technology or Management
    Waste Technology or Management
    Energy Technology or Management
  • Preffered 5 years of work experience in related field and or production environment
