Chemical Propulsion Engineer

The European Space Agency is ATG's biggest client. They are an international organization with 23 member states with sites in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, UK and Belgium. ESA is Europe's gateway to Space!

We are looking for a ​Chemical Propulsion Engineer​ on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in ​Noordwijk, The Netherlands​, to join their ​Engineering Department​.

**Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).**

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

Tasks and Responsibilities

Research and Technology in Chemical Propulsion:

* Prepare documentation and inputs to meetings and technical milestones;

* Review technical deliverables and provide inputs to the ESA Technical Responsible (TR);

* Organise and attend technical meetings and test activities;

* Report on the outcomes of technical meetings and milestones;

* Regularly update the activity tracking system (ACTIS-e) and the Division's document management systems (Eclipse/Polaris);

* Deliver a monthly report including:

* Inputs to the definition and harmonisation of R\&D roadmaps;

* Inputs to Innovative Propulsion Cross-Cutting Initiatives (IP-CCI);

* Inputs to related technology work plans;

Simulation Tools and Laboratory Support in Chemical Propulsion:

* Support the implementation, maintenance, and operation of ESA chemical propulsion laboratory facilities;

* Support technical expertise provided to ESA Member States' test facility stakeholders;

* Support the development and maintenance of chemical propulsion modelling tools;

* Provide specific outputs such as:

* Inputs to maintenance and calibration plan updates following each maintenance activity;

* Inputs to update the status of laboratory purchase orders (completed and planned) after each purchase;

* Inputs to maintain up-to-date facility usage records;

* Test report release after completion of test campaigns;

* Maintenance of ISO9001 certification, including tracking of non-conformances (NCs);

Engineering Support in Chemical Propulsion:

* Review project documentation throughout the project lifecycle in the area of chemical propulsion;

* Assess technical knowledge gaps and research questions identified by ESA projects and studies;

* Perform engineering analyses using literature review, analytical models, and numerical tools to address identified gaps;

* Interface with other ESA engineering disciplines to support chemical propulsion activities;

* Develop and/or improve software models, tools, and processes supporting all activities;

* Provide lessons learned and propose updates to processes and procedures;

* Deliver a monthly report including:

* Assessment reports for each supported project and study;

* Synthesis of digital simulation support, including results and lessons learned (with software improvement recommendations where applicable);

* Inputs to the definition and harmonisation of R\&D roadmaps.
