The Consulting Systems Engineer (CSE) Telco & MSSP team is primarily focused on developing security solutions for telco and managed security services customers. This involves taking our knowledge of security and applying it to telco and MSSP use-cases, and then articulating those solutions, both internally and externally using the vocabulary of the target customer.

This role is a solution validation engineer-within the CSE team 

The role primarily involves validating any of the team's solutions to ensure that they are both functionally sound, and that they can be scaled to the levels needed by our customers. For telco, this may mean validating CGNAT solutions at very high throughput; for MSSP customers it may mean validating SD-Wan solutions for large numbers of branches. We also validate new feature requests from the field, and work with Product Management to plan and control the evolution of our solutions.

The role requires a strong networking background, preferably with operational experience. An understanding of telco architectures is a bonus, although we have experts in the team who can help to bring you up to speed if needed. Testing experience is also beneficial. 

Validation projects may be very short and ad-hoc, in order to provide responses to questions from the field, or they may be long-term testing campaigns, requiring close liaison with both account teams and Fortinet engineering. Sometimes both of these have to be managed in parallel. Often, innovative methods of testing need to be devised to emulate customer environments, so good knowledge of linux, scripting and virtualisation are required.

Test results will require at least a written report, and on occasion will require a live presentation to a customer. Often, test campaigns will also be presented internally to the telco/MSSP community.
