Overview

As the Director Local Medical Communications, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing the business strategy to drive growth and revenue for our local markets, focused on Pharmaceutical/Biotech companies within Springer Healthcare. In addition to leading the commercial efforts, you will also have full P&L responsibility for the division, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded. Moreover, you will manage and provide oversight to the production and editorial teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality scientific content and services. This role requires deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record in global commercial management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy for medical communications at an affiliate/regional level, including market analysis, segmentation, pricing and revenue projections.
  • Assume full Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for the pharma local services division, including budgeting, financial forecasting, and meeting profitability targets.
  • Identify and cultivate global business opportunities, strategic partnerships and alliances within the pharmaceutical communications sector.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing global sales team to meet or exceed revenue goals, closely monitor performance, ensure effective communication and collaboration, and provide ongoing training and support.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and industry associations to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on product and content development to ensure that our pharma local offerings remain aligned with industry trends and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and provide guidance to the production and editorial teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration, and the timely delivery of high-quality scientific content and services.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to adapt the global commercial strategy accordingly.
  • Monitor and report key performance metrics, sales forecasts, and market insights to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Global leadership experience in pharma education, pharmaceutical sales, or related fields.
  • In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, including pharma local trends and regulations.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets and effectively leading global sales teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading global/multicultural teams including operations and editorial teams
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to establish and nurture strategic relationships.
  • Innovative and creative thinking with a focus on delivering results.
