Fullstack Engineer - team Siri
How do you make our customers and partners happy?
Together with over 52,000 partners, bol.com wants to make daily life simpler for 13 million customers. While we are a people-centric organization – we value each unique customer, partner, and colleague – making our ambitions come true requires a huge amount of tech. After all, we’re a product-led retail tech platform, and tech is often the operative word. Want to help engineers get the most out of our tooling? Happy to have you on board!
The scope of the position
As mentioned, we love to invent our platform wheel ourselves. So, we need to come up with clever, infinitely scalable solutions to intricate challenges. Within the IT Selling, Assortment & Retailer1 Space our team – Siri – is responsible for the supplier-facing interface, called the ‘Supplier Portal’. This portal is used to share data/insights and interact with suppliers. A pivotal platform, because without access to the right knowledge, we can’t make the right decisions. In doing so, we play an important role in providing millions of people in the Netherlands and Belgium with the products they need for a good price.
Our new colleague should be pragmatic; quickly implement a solution to the problem and iterate on this – applying the learnings from the feedback the team got. We love somebody who brings their own ideas to spark conversations – and help the team understand the thinking process behind these ideas. You are able to shift from being an independent engineer – who takes ownership and responsibility for delivering value – to collaborating with the team on the next problem to solve. Just as important is that you have low ego – we have a really nice feedback culture. We are looking for somebody who can help us with their front-end experience to help our suppliers even better. We also love our tech stack: Kotlin, Java, Spring, and Angular.
The team has cool challenges ahead of them; they are discovering how to leverage the portal to help the suppliers gain more insights. And discovering how to automate various interactions we have with our suppliers – invoices, promotions and other types of interactions. Next to this they are also looking to accelerate the tech impact by simplifying their opex. As you might expect, team Siri develops both the front and the back end of our product.

The culture? Think ‘campus’, including a game room and soccer field. Despite our size, we poke fun at rigid rules and traditional work structures. We may be a market leader, but you won’t get a whiff of the corporate odor you associate with that. Our strength derives from working together as equals and constantly improving each other. After all, you can accomplish great things on your own, but so much more with your colleagues!
