We are currently recruiting for an Interim Project Manager – Book of Work for our Finance Division in MUFG Securities, Amsterdam.

MUFG Securities (Europe) N.V., is part of the Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Holdings Co., Ltd which includes MUFG Securities EMEA plc, MUFG Securities Americas Inc., MUFG Securities (Canada), Ltd. and MUFG Securities Asia Limited. Their aim is to provide an internationally integrated securities operation offering best in class service and products to corporate and institutional clients and those of the MUFG group. MUFG Securities (Europe) N.V. (MUS(EU)) is headquartered in Amsterdam and has a branch in Paris.

MUS(EU) conducts activities under an MFID ‘EEA passport’ applicable to transactions with and services to all EEA clients. Whilst leading up to Brexit, MUS(EU) was busy expanding our product range and enhancing our capability in readiness for the European market. The first trade was conducted on 25 March 2019. MUS(EU) offers a variety of flow products such as Debt Capital Markets, Structured Solutions, Derivatives Solutions Group, Repo Group, Equity Solutions, Securitization, and Green Bonds in order to meet the demands of our clients. Based in Amsterdam and Paris, MUS(EU) is an integral part of MUFG’s global securities platform working closely with MUFG Securities (EMEA), MUFG Bank and MUFG bank (Europe) N.V. to offer a single MUFG solution to meet the needs of clients – it was established in order to replicate the services and arrangements

Your impact at MUFG

In order to deliver on the extensive entity Book of Work (which captures all regulatory and other commitments, internal obligations etc), MUS(EU) requires a Project Manager to manage the book of work and ensure that the activities are being addressed, open issues managed, embedded, delivered to the right quality etc. The position is for a 12-month interim Project Manager, probably at VP-D level in order have the necessary seniority to drive many of the elements, and the ability to apply strategically and tactical approaches

  • The successful candidate will report into the MUS(EU) CFO.
  • Among other Project Management tasks, the candidate will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of RAID logs, Business Justification documents, and Status reporting activities.
  • When required, the candidate must be able to facilitate analysis and translate facts and figures to allow for streamlined decision making by non subject matter experts.
  • Experience in the Capital Markets industry is a must to ensure quick understanding of content and anticipating risks or issues.
  • The candidate will need to have extensive experience in Investment Banking, with strong Front Office experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills is a must, and candidate must have a well organised structured approach to managing medium to large projects and work with senior stakeholders, subject matter experts and consultants.
  • The right candidate will work closely, from front to back, with Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) leads in support of delivering against planned initiatives, the definition and running of fact finding and decision making meetings, Working Groups, and Steering Committees to achieve tangible outcomes required to deliver against business objectives..
  • The role includes the following:

  • Co-ordination across projects/ work streams and across wider project to ensure synergies are identified and optimised
  • Partner with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant firm policies and framework, understand external regulatory expectations and industry standards, where appropriate
  • Work with MUS(EU) and group colleagues in the successful implementation of improvements to the MUS(EU) governance and operating frameworks.
  • Oversee analysis/ output and form clear recommendations and proposals that are based on sound business rationale ensuring consensus and collaboration with functional partners required to opine or sign off
  • Assist with running and managing steering committees, working groups (cross functional) and ensure accountability of actions against planned timelines.
  • Be a trusted partner functional stakeholders and Planning department ensuring updates, issues and consensus is effectively managed and delivered.
  • Manage implementation deliveries ensuring transparency of Risks, issues and dependencies that are fully aligned to functional / business owners.
  • In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

    Skills and experience:

  • Experience in Business Management/ COO, Risk and or other control function
  • BA/PM with over 4+ years investment banking experience
  • Proven track record of Front Office change projects experience and developing framework models or their implementation.
  • Experience of Regulator interaction and delivery of regulatory change projects.
  • experience of defining frameworks / implementation and handover to BAU
  • Transformation delivery and change management – overall strategic and or transformation led change and delivery experience
  • Strong understanding of the project lifecycle
  • Front to back understanding of IB Operating model with good Front Office / product knowledge. 
  • Experience in development of strategies; implementation of strategic or transformation programs / projects
  • Experienced interaction of delivering front to back solutions with demonstrable knowledge/interactions with functional divisions e.g. Finance, Ops, Risk, Legal, Compliance
  • Direct experience in managing multiple functional stakeholder (senior level) and consultants to derive clear and tangible outcomes
  • Degree level (min)
  • Programme/Project management or Financial markets led accreditation (beneficial)
  • Personal requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

  • Strong decision making skills, the ability to demonstrate sound judgement

  • Strong numerical skills
  • Advanced Experience of MS Project and or other PM tools (Planview)
  • Microsoft Office skills (specifically Powerpoint, Visio, Excel & Word).
