The role
Within the department Engineering a small dedicated group of engineers will be responsible for the design and engineering of Dynamic Construction Parts, like side doors, stern doors , big hatches, etc. for multiple projects. The Lead engineer Hull Doors delivers independently, timely and quality engineering products and lead a small group of engineers. The Lead Engineer Hull Doors reports hierarchically to the Technical Manager Shipbuilding and functionally to the Team Leader Shipbuilding.
Key accountabilities
Is assigned to a project by the Technical Manager Shipbuilding and receives the project assignments from the Team Leader Shipbuilding and translates them, if necessary, to the small group that he manages;
Assists the Team Leader Shipbuilding in monitoring the planning for the benefit of the small group that he supervises in terms of content;
Prepares own tasks and ensures realistic own work planning;
Works out concepts on the basis of the construction specification. Analyzes the feasibility and ensures proper integration in consultation with other disciplines
Independently models (particularly complex) dynamic constructions/details; Independently prepares (also complex) sketches, drawings, calculations (such as FEM) and lists. Makes detailed drawings of the machined parts. Independently draws up assembly instructions and manuals;
Makes technical specifications for the purchased parts and coordinates and controls the work and output of engineering subcontracts if necessary;
Generates workshop information from models. Provides technical and substantive support for production and commissioning;
Is responsible for the inspection process in the field of DCP with the relevant authorities;
Participates in various departmental and project meetings;
Assesses his own work results and makes adjustments if necessary, solves problems himself or consults colleagues or supervisors;
Makes proposals for improvement of the organization, products, processes and methods within their team;
Works according to instructions and the IQ manual and consults supervisor on technical decisions.
Skills & experience
We are looking for a team player with an innovative mindset, excellent communication and advising skills with the following experience:
Knowledge at the level of Bachelor's degree program SB/WB. Has extensive practical knowledge;
of mechanical engineering. Has extensive knowledge of regulations;
Normal office skills, AutoCAD;
Has experience engineering in a 3D CAD environment;
Written and oral (English and/or Dutch) level also for the purpose of technical documentation and solving daily problems.
