Mendix Platform Engineer

Introduction to the job

Mendix is the low-code application development platform used within ASML to rapidly build high-quality enterprise applications used by employees, suppliers, and customers. Since the introduction of the platform in 2019, approximately 70 applications have been created by development teams throughout the whole organization (by the centralized AppFactory, decentralized DevOps teams, and individual “business developers”).

To enable development teams to utilize the Mendix Low-Code Platform to build sustainable and impactful applications with ease, the Mendix Platform Team has been set-up years ago. The team consists of three platform experts (with very strong Mendix development expertise), a scrum master, and the product owner. The team is fully responsible for governing and directing the evolution and adoption of the Mendix Platform within the organization and aims to support any developer in their development journey, from beginning-to-end.

With the growth of the Mendix platform within ASML, new challenges are faced:

  • Complex integrations are required but difficult to be implemented.

  • Developers face complicated processes.

  • Application product owners seek better insights into the status and performance of their applications.

  • Downtime and incidents need to be absolutely minimized.

  • Security and compliance norms are constantly being tightened and thus require development teams to take action to improve their applications’ quality and resistance to threats.
