Meta Data & Data Modelling Analyst

We are looking to recruit a Metadata and Data Modelling Analyst within the Chapter Metadata Management, Business Definitions & Modelling. The team member will be responsible for setting the global standards/guidelines and processes for Metadata management and data modelling in support of local and global data products. Together with the other members of the Chapter, the Metadata and Modelling Analysis reviews, monitor and advises countries and global initiatives on the application of standards, guidelines and processes aiming to enable self-service as much as possible. The Metadata and Data Modelling Analyst contributes to building global data products through designing the Global Domain Data Model extensions for industry standards and for known ING standards/global systems. The team member will be responsible for defining and implementing Metadata Management governance focusing on the global catalog(s) in support of data products and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities

As a Metadata and Data Modeling Analyst you:

  • Have a competent understanding of data management as a whole
  • Work and act rapidly and independently and work closely together with data management experts, other data modelers, financial experts and other stakeholders within ING
  • Have an competent understanding of different data modelling techniques and you are able to recommend the best approach given the requirements of a domain or initiative.
  • Define the standards, guidelines, processes and tooling recommendations for data modelling and business definitions.
  • Monitor adherence to standards and guidelines, including regulatory requirements BCBS239 as it applies to business definitions and enterprise taxonomies.
  • Advise new initiatives on standards and guidelines and the implementation thereof.
  • Review local data product models for inclusion/expansion of the global domain data model.
  • Model and create global domain data model extensions.
  • Take industry best practices in Metadata and Metadata Management and coupled with your experience apply it to the ING strategic direction with a focus on governance.
  • Challenge and inspire on purpose and solution, persuades fact based to come to realize the business benefits.

  • We are looking for

  • Masters degree
  • At least 3 years of working experience as an analyst in data, preferably in data modelling relational, dimensional data modelling, data vault modelling etc.
  • A consulting mindset including an ability to think about Data Management in a way that is abstracted from how business functions currently operate.
  • Intermediate understanding and experience around Data Management, Data Warehousing, Data modelling technics, Data Architecture, Data Mapping, Data Profiling in an agile environment
  • Previous experience in data modelling tools like Infosphere Data Architect (IDA), IDERA ER/Studio, Erwin, PowerDesigner.
  • Previous experience in working with data catalogs to capture of Metadata like Infosphere Governance Catalog, Collibra, Watson Knowledge Catalog.
  • Understanding of SQL
  • Ability to work in a (partially) virtual, complex international landscape
  • You are a self-starter, demonstrating building and maintaining highly collaborative, flexible, and productive relationships

  • Result oriented with an ability to solve problems
