Packaging Engineer

You'll drive the development of our Packaging Procurement strategy across Europe, taking full ownership of your results and cultivating strong supplier relationships to achieve best-in-class outcomes in cost, technology, and quality. 

How you will contribute

  • Being the Expert in the development of Packaging (Solutions)
  • Coordinate and lead packaging development projects in alignment with the Procurement Packaging strategy and manage assigned packaging projects.
  • Capable to read, create and develop packaging specifications and testing protocols Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging meets product and shipping requirements
  • Evaluate packaging materials and suppliers in alignment with the Packaging sourcing strategy
  • Ensure packaging compliance with industry regulations
  • Conduct packaging trials and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Maintain packaging-related documentation and records
  • Identify and implement potential cost saving activities across the Packaging category
  • Manage suppliers and vendors in development of packaging and crating designs using standardized processes
  • Drive development of supplier capabilities in packaging design and manufacturing through supplier assessment, design reviews, root cause and corrective action analysis
  • Being the technical expert and visible/accessible in the Packaging category
  • Participate or lead in cross functional teams as appropriate, provide a comprehensive review of categories, supply base, cost drivers, market trends, supplier rationalization plans, supply positioning, sourcing strategies, and strategic actions.
  • Interface with supplier development for continuous improvement in the supply base, including but not limited to managing the supply base for a given commodity, focus on continuous improvement in quality, delivery, and value. Identify and develop suppliers with innovative technologies that reduce cost and increase our competitiveness. 

    • Your key qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in Engineering (specific field of Industrials and or Packaging) and Logistic Management or equivalent with > 3 years’ experience.
  • > 3 years of relevant experience in the Packaging field and procurement.
  • Proficiency in initiating, drafting, validating, signing off, and executing procurement strategies.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in dynamic environments.
  • Skilled in developing, managing, and influencing key stakeholder relationships.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently and coordinating sourcing activities across European sites.
  • Strong team player with experience in multicultural environments and complex international organizations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with expertise in supplier selection and relationship management.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams, including customers and suppliers.
  • Fluent in English at a business level.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of packaging materials, transportation modes, and costing.
  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings and plant layouts.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% within Europe.
