What will your mission be?
As a Process Engineer in the insect industry at Protix, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing process improvements to ensure efficient and sustainable insect derived products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives, maintain quality standards, and contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies in insect processing. The insect industry is a young and emerging market, where we still make giant leaps. As a process engineer, you will be one of the frontrunners of a new industry.
What will be your responsibilities?
- Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve existing insect processing setup to enhance efficiency, yield, sustainability, and product quality.
- Technology development: In close collaboration with our technologists and operational team select, test, and evaluate new processing technologies both in support for our Bergen op Zoom facility as well as for our new production facilities that are in development. Core technologies consist of pasteurization, evaporation, drying and separation processes.
- Design: improve current processing lines or design new processes all together. Work on design deliverables like PFDs, P&IDs, 3D Models and functional specifications.
- Communicate: align with stakeholders from the engineering team, technology team, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure process design improvements are in line with expectations.
- Cost Management: Work on cost-effective solutions without compromising product quality, ensuring competitiveness in the market.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about industry regulations and ensure that processes comply with relevant standards and guidelines.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with equipment development, research and development, and production teams to drive multidisciplinary projects forward.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Training and Development: Provide training and support to production teams to ensure the proper implementation of optimized processes.
- Execution support: Support in the implementation of your improvements and designs in an operational facility.
- Project management: Own the end-to-end project for the improvement projects, including planning, budgets, and technical aspects.
Who are you?
- Bachelor's or master's in (NL: HBO or WO) ideally in food sciences, mechanical or process engineering (or similar)
- You have 5-10 year work experience in a relevant role such as process technologist, process engineer in a food/feed processing environment.
- Fluent in English (both verbal and in writing)
- You think and act on a high conceptual level while paying attention to details.
- You have proficient knowledge of heating, evaporation, separation and/or drying processes
- You can shape and structure projects in a self-sufficient manner.
- Self-starting and entrepreneurial
- You keep the bigger picture in mind and are goal driven
- You are pro-active, good at working in multi-disciplinary teams and interested in working in a fast-moving work environment
