Job Purpose and Impact

The Regional Automation Engineer will provide technical support and specialist knowledge on Automation standards, applications, solutions and measurements to effectively improve KPIs for the business. You will help enable the business on reaching Autonomous Operations Maturity Targets set by the site and Manufacturing Technology and simplify the way we work and deliver to our customers. You will contribute to improve activities related to Automation, such as procedural/state based control, operator effectiveness and protection systems to enable projects and improve our capabilities by providing engineering support for the organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • The Regional Automation Engineer will provide technical support and specialist knowledge on Automation standards, applications, solutions and measurements to effectively improve KPIs for the business. You will help enable the business on reaching Autonomous Operations Maturity Targets set by the site and Manufacturing Technology and simplify the way we work and deliver to our customers. You will contribute to improve activities related to Automation, such as procedural/state based control, operator effectiveness and protection systems to enable projects and improve our Support regional smart manufacturing hubs and production locations with adoption and rollout of automation strategies (train & consult)
  • Drive consistent regional adoption and execution of automation solutions and deliverables in projects in (Sub/)Region for Smart Manufacturing. 
  • Execute against the central automation roadmap and the portfolio of automation projects
  • Facilitate the Automation Application Software requirement engineering process according to the GAMP model: Facilitate definition of requirement specifications and insure design specifications in accordance with regional and global standards
  • Develop and deploy automation technology leading practices by collaborating with Manufacturing Technology, regional and global automation and process control SME’s, and corporate functions.
  • Support localization of standards in region and provide practical insights and feedback for the improvement of standards. Lead Technical Review Activities. 
  • Monitor metrics, identify opportunities, propose and develop recommendations in areas of improvement and implement solutions to improve performance and identify acceptable risk tolerance.
  • Prototype and pilot innovative technology development in alignment with strategy and partnering with stakeholders across the organization. 
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Oversees, coordinates and qualifies work and services delivered and performed by 3rd party Integrators for centrally managed solutions
  • Other duties as assignedcapabilities by providing engineering support for the organization.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Process-, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree
  • 4 years hands-on with minimum experience in process automation (DCS based Application software), in a chemical manufacturing environment or comparable
  • Language skills: fluent in Englis

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Manage automation projects (Application software) and process safety management
  • Practical Experience with Industry standards :ISA 106 State Based ControlISA 88 Procedure automation for continuous processesISA 101 Human Machine InterfaceISA 18 Alarm ManagementIEC61511 Functional Safety
  • Demonstrated proficiency in specifying, building, commissioning and startup industrial process automation installations
  • Hands-on experience in multiple DCS and / or PLC systems (preferd Siemens PCS7 )
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement (Preferd: Kaizen, Six Sigma or Lean processes Green/black belt)
  • Able to travel , work at the locations in the region
