You will design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and data models while supporting the modernization of our existing platform. #### **Key Responsibilities:**

**Data Engineering \& Data Warehouse Development**

* Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines supporting regulatory, financial, and management reporting.

* Develop, enhance, and maintain the enterprise SQL Server data warehouse.

* Build efficient ETL/ELT processes using SQL, Python, Airflow, and related technologies.

* Ensure data quality, reliability, performance, and maintainability across the data platform.

* Support onboarding of new data sources and integration into the enterprise data warehouse.

**Data Modelling \& Database Engineering**

* Design and maintain logical and physical data models that support business and regulatory requirements.

* Develop advanced T-SQL solutions, including stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and optimized queries.

* Optimize database performance and continuously improve scalability and maintainability.

* Ensure data models support both existing reporting solutions and future analytical requirements.

**Legacy Platform Modernization**

* Analyze and reverse-engineer legacy solutions built on MS Access, Excel, and flat-file integrations.

* Replace manual and fragmented processes with automated, scalable, and maintainable data pipelines.

* Work with limited documentation while understanding and improving existing data flows.

* Contribute to the gradual modernization of the bank's reporting and data landscape.

**Tooling \& Automation**

* Design, implement, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL, Python, Airflow, and related technologies.

* Automate data ingestion, transformation, and validation processes.

* Develop reusable and maintainable solutions that support current business needs while preparing the platform for future cloud adoption.

* Continuously improve data engineering processes through automation and standardization.

**Data Governance \& Platform Evolution**

* Promote Data Governance best practices across the enterprise data platform.

* Contribute to the implementation and adoption of **Microsoft Purview** as the bank's enterprise Data Governance platform.

* Support the implementation and adoption of metadata management capabilities, including Data Catalog, Data Lineage, and Data Quality processes, to improve the discoverability, trust, and governance of enterprise data assets.

* Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to establish data ownership, business glossary, and data stewardship practices.

* Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the data platform towards Microsoft Azure and modern cloud-based data services.

**Engineering Best Practices**

* Establish Git-based collaborative development workflows.

* Follow engineering best practices for code quality, testing, documentation, and deployment.

* Ensure data solutions are maintainable, reusable, well documented, and covered by appropriate testing.

* Ensure all solutions comply with internal security policies and applicable regulatory requirements, including GDPR and DORA.

* Support data validation, ETL testing, reconciliation testing, and root cause analysis for data issues.

* Promote continuous improvement across the data engineering platform.

* Ensure data solutions support auditability, reconciliation, traceability, and regulatory reporting requirements.

**Business Collaboration \& Knowledge Sharing**

* Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical requirements.

* Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

* Collaborate with multiple departments across the bank to deliver new reports, data integrations, and platform enhancements.

* Share knowledge with team members and business users by promoting engineering best practices and modern data management approaches.

* Act as a technical resource for resolving complex data engineering challenges.

**Skills/Qualifications:**

***Required***

* **At least 10 years** of proven experience in Data Modelling, Advanced SQL, Database Engineering, and Database Administration.

* **At least 10 years** of hands-on T-SQL development, including writing complex stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and query optimization.

* **At least 3 years** of working experience in the banking domain with in-depth knowledge of financial products.

* Strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining SQL Server-based data warehouses.

* Expertise in Python and Apache Airflow for data engineering, workflow orchestration, and ETL/ELT automation.

* Practical experience with Data Catalog, Data Lineage, Metadata Management, and Data Quality concepts and tooling.

* Experience with dimensional modelling concepts such as fact tables, dimension tables, star schemas, data marts, and Slowly Changing Dimensions.

* Strong knowledge of Git and collaborative version control workflows.

* Experience working with core banking and financial product data, including customer, account, payment, savings, ledger, transaction, and financial posting data.

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on automation and efficiency.

* Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

* Experience with Microsoft Azure technologies such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.

* Experience with Power Automate and Power Apps.

* Hands-on experience implementing Data Governance best practices within enterprise data platforms.

* Experience with enterprise Data Governance platforms, preferably Microsoft Purview.
