The role

Damen Naval, situated in the bustling Rotterdam area of Schiedam, is a renowned marine shipbuilder known for its commitment to excellence and innovation. We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Engineer in Configuration Management to join our team on a temporary basis for twelve months. As Senior Engineer in Configuration Management, you will play a crucial role in managing the complete product configuration and ensuring the accuracy of product data throughout its lifecycle. From the proposal phase to maintenance, you will oversee the configuration data in our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for our unique vessels. Your responsibilities will include formulating configuration management processes, training project teams, and ensuring compliance with configuration management procedures. Additionally, you will validate data, monitor configuration changes, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Key accountabilities

As Senior Engineer in Configuration Management your key responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up the configuration management plan (CMP) for the project and documenting procedures.
  • Establishing the product structure and master document list.
  • Validating customer and supplier data and overseeing change control.
  • Configuring the project data environment in a PDM/PLM system.
  • Ensuring Configuration Change control, monitoring processes, and suggesting improvements.

    • Skills & experience

    To excel in this role, you need to have:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably with experience in shipbuilding.
  • Experience in configuration management and PDM/PLM systems (preferably 3DX), with proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and an affinity for configuration management, data management, and change control.
  • Ideally, knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and the ability to define and improve processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and technical proficiency to interpret and report on configuration data.
  • Willingness to occasionally work in the Vlissingen office and travel infrequently to other sites.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing, with mastery of the Dutch language considered advantageous.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.

  • An attractive rate, ensuring at least equal pay to permanent staff.
  • Travel allowance of 23 cents per kilometre.
