Abbott Information Technology (IT) is responsible for delivering Information technology solutions and services to over 130+ countries globally. To expand our team in the Netherlands we are looking for a Senior Network Engineer

You will be a member of Abbott’s Global Data Network team. This position will be involved with complex planning for projects at responsible Abbott sites as well as provide Level II support for Implementation and Operations. You will partner with the design architecture team to ensure all design standards are implemented, are responsible for timely interaction with customers of the platform, peer technologists, and senior management. Our ideal candidate will have experience in routing/ switching, WAN/MPLS/VPN, SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, WLAN, Load Balancing, security infrastructure and Zscaler.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Supports, implements, and upgrades large scale enterprise LAN, WLAN including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network related hardware.

Evaluates and identifies opportunities for network performance and functionality improvement within the enterprise network.

Collaborates with the physical infrastructure team for cabling requirements.

Responsible for compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and industry best practices.

Successfully negotiate technical design and deployment strategy with key stakeholder and consumers of the service.

Serve as the platform technical subject matter expert and provide consulting support to the business and end-user organizations.

Frequently interacts with supplier technical staff including support and engineering teams.

Integrates technical expertise with communication, leadership, and business skills in a team environment.

Provide operational support to global network with focus on assigned manufacturing sites.

Fulfil service request, maintain all supported devices with current standards.

Design, implement and support the hardware refresh for assigned sites per timeline and budget.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while adhering to deadlines

Demonstrates mastery of the concepts and theory of network security, and possess adept knowledge of data networking, including expertise in switching, routing, security rules and TCP/IP fundamentals.

Flexible work schedule to support off hour implementations.

Demonstrates a strong customer centric approach and excellent communications skills.

Supports Abbott global data network operations support staff worldwide.

Keeps abreast of industry trends and makes architecture roadmaps and or recommendation based on these trends.

Travel approximately 10%

Background and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunication, or other related field – or combination of experience / education.

5+ years of Networking experience, preferably in Enterprise environment.

Residing in the Netherlands is a must.

Fluency in English. Knowledge of Dutch is an asset.

Prior experience engineering solutions at the network level for Acquisition/ Separation activity.

Experience in healthcare related industries is a plus.

Experience with the following products / environments preferred:

•Cisco Routers and Switches & Wireless

•Check Point Firewalls

•F5 Load Balancer (GTM and LTM)

•Zscaler

•Infoblox
