Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer

O CI Nitrogen Iowa is looking for a Sr. Rotating Equipment Engineer to join our Asset Integrity team in Wever, Iowa. This individual will be responsible for rotating equipment engineering support at the site. This will include maintenance support, bad actor resolutions and a focus on potential business interruptions. This individual will focus on special purpose equipment, including Turbines, Compressors, Expanders and Reciprocating Equipment, this includes vibration diagnostics, and turnaround planning and support. This individual should have a strong mechanical engineering background, experience with high power rotating equipment and experience working in chemical facilities.

What you will do as a Rotating Equipment Engineer:

  • Technical maintenance support for rebuilds and repairs
  • Mitigation and resolution of potential business interruptions or threats
  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) process for rotating equipment centered changes and perform the technical review.
  • Develop solutions for bad actors and correct repeat failures
  • Turnaround scope development, planning support and execution oversight
  • Capital Expenditure Subject Matter Expert for Rotating Equipment
  • Develop Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) for
  • Perform vibration analysis on continuous monitored equipment and resolve vibration
  • Perform regular equipment walkdowns and establish inspection
  • Develop and implement task lists and work procedures for maintenance technicians and operations to ensure reliable repair and operation of rotating equipment.
  • Identify and solve specific equipment issues using data driven
  • Provide technical support for PHA’s/HAZOPs.
  • Provide justification and facilitating the purchase of major spare
  • Provide specifications; including clearances and torques
  • Analyze and communicate equipment drawing
  • Formal and informal training of
  • Assist in obtaining and training on specialized components or
  • Manage vendor and manufacturer support for repairs and
  • Inspect and verify work of maintenance technicians and contractors for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and

  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • ISO 18436-2 Vibration Category II Certification
  • Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years’ engineering experience in the Fertilizer, LNG, Refining, Petrochemical, or other chemical industry. With knowledge of PSM and MI program requirements.
  • 10+ years’ experience with compressors, steam turbines and reciprocating
  • Minimum of 4 Turnaround events leading rotating equipment
  • Knowledge of engineering codes/standards and best practices related to rotating machinery (API/ANSI,).
  • API 610, 614, 617, 612, 682, 686, 687, working
  • Analyzing vibration data and Bently Nevada experience is critical to this
  • Experience working with operating processes, equipment, and materials of
  • Strong technical ability to effectively evaluate equipment performance, identify root cause to equipment failures or performance issues and recommend solutions to resolve problems.
  • Experience with small project and failure analysis
  • Experience with rotating equipment repairs, understanding of clearances and tolerances on rotating
  • Knowledge of machinery lubrication and tribology – ability to analyze sample results and recommend resolution when required.

  • Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50
