Sr Software Commissioning Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Software Commissioning Engineer will plan, organize, and onsite test multiple complex technical projects involving several system integration points and Client specific development. The position requires the implementer to take projects from original concept through final implementation and is responsible for working on project teams in all aspects of software verification.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Creating documentation for Fortna WES products
  • Providing relevant comparisons of WCS/WES concepts with similar operational environments supported by FortnaWES solutions
  • Working with Software Project Management by participating in project planning activities throughout the lifetime of the project
  • Assisting Software Quality Assurance and Development teams with clarification of requirements
  • Working closely with Software Quality Assurance and Development teams to ensure that proposed design solutions are aligned with current product and technical offerings or can by supported by Research & Development (R&D) roadmap
  • Creating advanced test cases for FortnaWES solutions
  • Developing test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs
  • Providing valuable input to R&D and WCS/WES roadmap initiatives identified from Client engagements and feedback
  • Providing input to clarify development sprint requirements and feedback to development sprint output as requirements subject matter expert
  • Maintaining high quality project and software design documentation and analysis
  • Leading lessons learned documentation post project go live
  • Traveling to client sites for testing and project implementation
  • Running onsite test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs
  • Ensuring that any software systems being integrated meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications
  • Assisting with Lifecycle Services with high tier support tickets
  • Remaining abreast of industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standards
  • Working closely with the Software team to develop software platforms/applications based on Client’s needs
  • Travel to Clients’ sites or Fortna offices as needed
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Guide and train newer software commissioning engineers
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in in engineering, information technology, or related field
  • Four-plus years of combined experience in supply chain, distribution, warehouse management systems, and warehouse control systems technologies. AutoStore experience is highly desired
  • Professional experience in Material Handling Systems and/or Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
  • Advanced knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards, including TCP/IP, FTP, and SOA
  • Advanced knowledge of database design and file management techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Linux, Microsoft Windows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills
  • Excellent Client-facing skills
  • Business case development and modeling techniques and methods
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) experience
  • Advanced project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc.
  • Team player who works well with technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally in the range of 50%-70% of the time
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Four plus years’ experience with JSE/JEE technologies including Swing, Applets
  • Four plus years’ experience in application server implementation
  • Proficiency in diagnosing transactions in J2EE and C++ environments
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of FortnaWES software technologies, methodologies, and best practices.

    When traveling to client sites, essential requirements may involve a physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and/or working in cramped quarters. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can vary from being relatively quiet to moderate, to excessive. Safety shoes or boots may be required in certain situations. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, and devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing, will be worn as necessary.
