Statutory Accounting Director
Overview
The Statutory Accounting Director will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with both local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) related to our companies operating in Europe and APAC. This position requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and reporting requirements across various jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
This position is the key technical leader for the statutory reporting team. They will interpret and apply local GAAP and IFRS standards to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements. They will work closely with our external auditors to ensure the timely and accurate filing of our statutory accounts. Additionally, this position will:
· Research, analyze, and implement accounting guidance updates and changes to ensure adherence to evolving regulatory requirements.
· Identify and communicate accounting issues, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
· Provide technical accounting expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams, including the rest of the statutory team, tax, and the boarder finance organization supporting Europe and APAC.
o Stay abreast of emerging accounting standards, trends, and best practices to proactively address potential impacts on financial reporting.
o Document accounting conclusions and disclosure implications for a variety of topics, supporting complex accounting issues such as impairment.
o Provide training and support to finance and accounting teams on technical accounting matters.
· Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to enhance financial reporting integrity.
· Lead the preparation and review of financial statements and disclosures for compliance with local GAAP and IFRS.
· Reviewing the statutory adjustments and reviewing the bridge to statutory financial statements.
· Reviewing the statutory financial statements in terms of completeness and accuracy.
· Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation and explanations of accounting treatments and policies.
