While you'll be involved in all project phases, you'll delegate the execution of the functional design across engineering disciplines. Your main tasks:
Identify and understand customer needs at the project outset
Brainstorm functional design and determine technical approach for sorting systems
Investigate and incorporate safety requirements, ensuring compliance for CE marking
Document design using industry-specific 3D modeling program and functional specification
Implement safety features and establish functional acceptance criteria
Analyze acceptance results and iterate for system improvement
Conduct client visits approximately once a month in countries like Germany, Denmark, or Italy
Present, discuss, inspect, and test systems during final implementation phases
Collaborate within the System Engineering team under a manager
Manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying durations
Maintain regular client communication and support colleagues
Contribute to minor improvement projects within the team
Qualifications and experience
Completed bachelor's or master's degree in engineering + experience in mechatronics
A highly proactive mindset. You thrive on tackling complex problems and coming up with solutions
Creative problem-solving skills
Knowledge of and experience with technical developments/applications and safety standards
Ability to balance customer functional needs with technical quality of systems, considering financial aspects
Proficiency in both written and verbal Dutch and English (Dutch is primarily spoken in Houten). Other languages are a plus
Organized, efficient, and motivated to contribute to Fortna's development
Five to ten years of work experience in a technical environment.
Knowledge of logistics systems is a plus but not required
