What you'll do Job Responsibilities Viasat is looking for a creative, highly motivated, flexible Optical Intersatellite Communication Project Manager to work at the forefront of what makes us successful. Responsibilities for this role include: To support bid activities based on future opportunities and market needs To manage project scope including the definition of Work Breakdown Structure and requirements baseline, scope monitoring and control, up to deliverable acceptance To manage project schedule including logical diagram, advanced project charts, critical path definition and ensuring the project will be completed on time To manage the project cost by defining the budget, and interacting with the finance team for the periodic update of project ETC To identify and manage project stakeholders and ensure customer satisfaction To manage complex network of partners and suppliers To interact with other project managers collaborating to work for the same program initiative To manage risks and opportunities To perform make or buy analysis and to be responsible of procurement needs for the project implementation To work with the engineering team to ensure the planned deliveries are performed on-time, on-budget, on schedule and with the agreed quality To help project team writing project documentation and gather contributions from relevant sources To provide detailed reports tracking project metrics The day-to-day In this role, you will be involved from project initiation and planning up through execution, monitoring/control and closing. What you'll need Requirements You have a proven record of successfully leading a development effort through design, execution and verification stages in the space optical technologies domain. You have excellent customer relations and communications skills. You’ve served as the primary customer interface throughout the life of a program. You understand the Business Development, bid process and have participated in programs from inception to transition. Master of Science Degree in Telecommunications Engineering or similar technical discipline 10+ years of project management and customer management experience for product development programs 3+ years of technical engineering background in relevant domain area Experience in managing space related programs Understanding of complex systems including optical communications, optics, lasercoms, HW/SW and optomechanical development processes Experience with agile and lean development methodologies, Agile-Waterfall Hybrid model Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams through multiple phases of the product development life-cycle Expertise in Jira and Confluence tools, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project Proficiency in developing, tracking, and maintaining project schedules Excellent communication skills Excellent command of English language Ability to travel up to 20% travel What will help you on the job HW, SW and mechanical Engineering development experience Experience in the telecommunication industry Experience in managing projects with institutional customers (e.g: European Space Agency, EC) Experience working in a multicultural environment PMP certification or similar European Union Citizenship ____________ #LI-EMEA At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
