Contract Duration: 3 years
Location: Onsite at Maasvlakte II Terminal, Europaweg 910, 3199 LC Maasvlakte Rotterdam.
A valid driving licence is mandatory for this position as there is no access to the terminal via public transport.
APMT will appoint a Project Management Consultant (PMC) to evaluate the Contractor’s Tender Design and support Contract appointment, review Contractor’s Detailed Design, coordinate approvals, permits and licences (where required) and provide construction supervision.
Whilst the PMC will act as the Client’s Representative, the APMT MVII-E Project Team maintains accountability for the delivery of the Civil Package. The role of Civil Engineer is to ensure that the civil project packages are delivered in accordance with the design requirements and APMT’s quality standards.
Overall responsibilities are the following
Actively promote safety and assume a visible leadership role on the construction site.
Support the Project Manager with the development of the FEED design and the Project Employers requirements, ensuring that the output delivered by the consultants is in line with the Standard Project requirements and in line with the project objectives.
Provide technical support in the decision-making process on the civil aspects of the project and cross-functionally advise.
Reviews the contractor execution plan, methods statements, and quality control plan to ensure that the project is delivered in line with the company’s safety standards and general project requirements.
Oversee the PMC activities regarding the site supervision, quality control ensuring all aspects of the civil scope are delivered in accordance with the project specs.
Monitors the progress of the construction and review of “As Built” Drawings. Audits the Contractor’s ‘As-Built’ drawing records.
Responsible for managing all changes to the civil scope, schedule and budget, working in close coordinate with Project Controls.
Responsible for delivery of all project deliverables and outputs involved in the Civil Package, including (but not limited to), design submissions, as-built packages, O&M manuals, updates to risk, assumption and issues registers.

Safety
Monitor compliance by all designers and contractors to APM Terminals’ safety standards and policies in cooperation with the on-site HSSE manager.
Construction controls & governance
Assess changes and their impacts, and manage them in line with company procedures.
Maintain high technical standards and pioneer new techniques for improved civil assets.
Monitor and assess civil opportunities, risks and subsequent mitigation strategies
Assist in ensuring that the Engineer (PMC) fulfills his role under the Contract.
Experience
Minimum 5yr relevant experience in a civil engineering and/or construction project related environment .
Good working knowledge of Civil Works contract, particularly involving design & build; knowledge of FIDIC contacts has a preference
Experience within large scale Port Infrastructure projects is required
Skills
Understanding of complex construction projects specifically regarding construction site management, supervision & quality control of civil projects.
Have a strong understanding of design and construction, built on a solid foundation of technical engineering skills.
Excellent communication skills, where sufficient level of English is necessary, and Dutch is a pre.
Driven, self-motivating, result orientated.
High discipline – following through on actions and ensuring necessary documentation.
High quality awareness and ability to work with constant care.
