The role

As the Continuous Improvement Engineer at Damen Naval, you are responsible for the (ISO 9001) continuous improvement processes and procedures for the shipbuilding project(s) you are assigned to. You ensure the QA handbook is updated and oversee, advise, and report about quality issues occurring in the project(s) assigned to you.

Key accountabilities

As the Continuous Improvement Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinates the quality processes and fosters a quality mindset in each shipbuilding project.
  • Ensuring quality management principles, protocols, and processes are correctly applied.
  • Implementing project-specific improvements in the QA processes and procedures.
  • Contributing to the adaptation and application of the QA standards and principles.
  • Ensuring the (ISO) QA registration system is complete and up to date.
  • Participating in project and department progress meetings.
  • Updating project management about the quality assurance status and incident mitigations.
  • Skills & experience

    To excel as the Continuous Improvement Engineer, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • 3+ years of experience with (ISO 9001) continuous improvement processes, preferably acquired in the naval, defense or shipbuilding industry.
  • Experienced with manufacturing techniques and processes, preferably in the naval shipbuilding industry.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technical Business Administration, Maritime Technology or Shipbuilding.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
