For our Nootdorp office we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to work on robotic systems and newly designed geotechnical equipment in the innovation pipeline. As a member of the Innovation Technology Commissioning and Implementation group, you focus on thorough testing, design improvement implementation and commissioning, optimizing performance, and reliability. Due to complexity of the equipment, you act as support to find a quick solution. This can be offshore as well.

Fugro, as the leading Geo-data provider, is on a journey to accelerate integrated data acquisition. One of the key elements is reducing the exposure of people in field work by using remotely controlled robots with a wide variety of sensors and equipment being deployed at sea, on land and in the air. As part of this strategy and to accomplish our goals, we design and build robotic equipment.

Your role 

  • You work on electrical and automation aspects of equipment, which can be used onshore, offshore and subsea;

  • You liaise with the design team to review, advice and consult on practical and safety related aspects of the design;

  • You are responsible for electrical wiring diagrams, electrical safety and design of convertors, motor control and you complete technical upgrades and technical manuals;

  • You are in the lead during the execution of acceptance testing and validation and play an active role in field pilot projects;

  • You interact with the operations department on issues occurred in the field;

  • You are part of the innovation 3rd line support where you solve complex issues related to both hardware and software and are the point of contact for the electrical side of the products.

  • Your track record

  • You have a BSc. degree or higher in Electrical Engineering;

  • You are familiar with norms for electrical safety e.g., EN61010 and EN60945;

  • You have experience with PLCs, designing control cabinets and feel comfortable working on low to high power converters and motors.

  • Experience in a maritime / offshore environment is a pre;

  • You are fluent in English (both written and spoken);

  • You have a self-driven attitude, practical mindset and you are keen in developing new skills.
