Introduction

The ASML IT R&D Hardware Engineering department supports the ASML R&D teams that are working on the development of current and future machine components which are part of the Lithography, Metrology and other tools that ASML sells to the leading chipmakers in the world. These machines are extremely complex and require nanometer precision to properly function. Our IT teams support this development by providing a set of Engineering Simulation IT services including application support, HPC, Virtual Workplaces and a set of monitoring, automation and data analytics &reporting services. This is a set of fast evolving, leading edge technology services where we use innovative technologies to create and support these IT services. We work according to Agile principles and have also adopted the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Our R&D colleagues are very demanding on what they need when to support the fast paced development cycles that are planned for our current and new machines.

Then this project is the right challenge for you! Our team directly develops simulation solvers for advancing the development of ASML machines using high-performance computing (HPC) clusters. By harnessing the power of thousands of computers connected together by fast networking, we empower engineers in ASML who run large-scale simulations and big data analysis to create the forefront innovation in the semiconductor industry. We do not stop at being the most advanced tech company in the world, our ambitions also align towards Environment Society Governance (ESG) and sustainability.

During your internship with us, your primary goal will be to develop a multi-physics model for gas flow simulations. Moreover, you will work in optimizing the end-to-end simulation workflow of gas flow simulations. At ASML, we Challenge, Care for, and Collaborate with each other. You will not be working alone by yourself in a silo. You will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with other team members from diverse specializations --- computational scientists, computer scientists, software developers, backend engineers all working on the same floor within hearing distance. In return, you will help us develop the hybrid solver to simulate accurately and efficiently the gas flow in ASML scanners. Throughout this project, you will embark on the way of working in an Agile team, develop in-depth knowledge about HPC and establish a professional network in the Brainport tech community.
