Position Summary:

Medavie continues to grow and deliver on innovative solutions for internal stakeholders and external clients. The Portfolio Planning Analyst role reports to the Manager, IT Portfolio Management and is key in the delivery of the IT Portfolio roadmap. Portfolio Planning Analysts build strong relationships with stakeholders, facilitate intake, provide analysis and coordination of all IT requests through assessment and estimation, support prioritization and alignment of strategic objectives and business & technical roadmaps.

You are an influential leader, who is situationally aware, responsive and can work within ambiguity. You are driven to be innovate, create, and try new approaches. Your strong communication, facilitation and analytical skills will be utilized to define business needs, identify stakeholder impacts, and effectively bring together the Business and IT teams to propose solutions to meet the identified business need or problem. You will promote the value of IT Planning through the enhancement of project portfolio scheduling, relationship management and portfolio governance.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand Management

  • Owns IT intake demand process to effectively track requests and ideas.
  • Supports prioritization of business requests through intake, assessment, and portfolio planning.
  • Coordinates with Business and IT resource leaders to plan and schedule IT assessments that align with corporate prioritization, dependencies, and resource availability.
  • Support new initiatives requests, assessing high-level opportunity with both business and IT teams to support the definition of corresponding business case by: collaborating with Business stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts for problem solving and root cause analysis activities, to clarify current state pain points, overall problem statement and possible counter measures. performing early stakeholder analysis. driving out and influencing high-level solution options, facilitating the documentation of IT costs estimates, high level duration and resources required to deliver solutions.
  • Identifies and captures initiative dependencies and collisions throughout the assessment process.
  • Business Relationship Management

  • Builds and nurtures business relationships. Acts as trusted advisor for the identification and funneling of new initiatives requiring new or enhanced technology solutions.
  • Maintains strong understanding of business lines operating models and roadmaps, along with their alignment to strategic and corporate goals.
  • Develops and maintains a broad network within and across the various IT teams with a strong understanding of areas of accountabilities and expertise.
  • Drives understanding of needs and challenges impacting stakeholders.
  • Continuously manages Business and IT relationships, increasing collaboration, visibility, and ensuring business priorities are understood and represented across the IT portfolio.
  • Delivers business portfolio reviews and reporting across the IT landscape.
  • Portfolio Management

  • Builds and maintains a holistic long range IT Portfolio Roadmap, collaborating with business, CPMO, Architecture, IT Operations, and IT teams to sequence and optimize business & technology roadmaps including tracking and managing portfolio dependencies and risks.
  • Supports leadership up to Executive level through portfolio information and reporting that enables data driven decisions.
  • Evaluates and improves Portfolio Management processes and core artifacts ensuring a continuous improvement framework.
  • Works in collaboration across It within a matrixed framework to deliver the holistic roadmap, includes resource planning, reporting, etc
  • Required Qualifications:

    Education:

    College diploma, bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business, Finance, or related field and/or relevant experience.

    Work Experience:

    8+ years of progressive & relevant work in an IT Planning, Portfolio management experience in Insurance and/or Health sector is an asset.

    Other Qualifications:

    Would be considered an asset: IIBA (CBAP, CCBA, ECBA), PMP, Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen

    Computer Skills:

    Proficient using process modeling, spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software.

    Language Skills:

    English, written and spoken. French would be considered an asset.
