Packaging Engineer

For the Technical Operations Department at our manufacturing site in Oss (the Netherlands), we are currently recruiting a Packaging Engineer.

Purpose of the role

Reporting into the Section Lead Packaging, you will be executing or participating in one or more projects that run at our packaging departments. Working in pharma means working in an important, but complex environment, it requires that you need to be able to focus and prioritize your work.

Organon Oss produces, packs and distributes human pharmaceutical medicines for, among other things, contraception, fertility, and anesthesia. In addition to tablets and injection fluids also specialty products such as contraceptive rods and rings are made.

Technical Operations is a Center of Excellence within Organon Oss Pharma. The department consists of various sections (each around 10 employees) that provide technological and technical support to production. The sections are Solids, Steriles, Polymerics and Packaging, that all provide product and process support to operations. Communication with colleagues in the site, in the Organon network and with global and external partners is essential for Technical Operations. 

Main responsibilities

  • Make a scope proposal, specify what is to be done and how it should be done with respect to new or updated primary, secondary or tertiary packaging processes, equipment or used materials. You will execute these projects together with the production departments and other stakeholders. Finally you will lead the commissioning and qualification for these changes;
  • Projects may include primary, secondary or tertiary packaging of pharmaceutical products used worldwide, or you may be introducing new products into Organon Oss production where your significant expertise is required;
  • You may be leading these projects or you may be leading investigations;
  • Define the critical process attributes on automated, high volume, product packaging equipment and optimally tune these to perfection;
  • Lead or contribute to investigations, resulting from deviations in the production processes and or Out-of-Spec situations.

Your profile

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree preferably in automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering or another related technical field of study; 
  • Relevant work experience, preferably at least 2-3 years;
  • Work experience in a strongly regulated (engineering) environment and experience with a phenomenon such as change control, are both an advantage;
  • Proven professional knowledge amongst several expertise areas in packaging and the ability to learn from assignments to further develop your skillset;
  • Ability to explain and communicate technical information and you can persuade others based on knowledge and (applied) research results. This in order to set up and execute qualification protocols. 
  • Data driven decision making is your second nature; 
  • Basic project management, collaboration and stakeholder management skills; 
  • Teamplayer, proactivity, quality and results oriented;
  • Good Dutch and English language skills (written and spoken).
