Process Modeling Engineer
Job Purpose

Location This role can be based in Netherlands (Bergen op Zoom or Schiphol) Belgium (Vilvoorde)
The Research Engineer will actively engage in direct discussions with client domain experts, operations teams, and other research functions to understand facility and process questions regarding material flow, energy flow, utilization, sustainability, and bottlenecks. In this role, you will develop and implement simulation and optimization models designed to make our manufacturing and supply chains more efficient and effective. You will be collaborating on project planning, model development and validation, deployment, and long-term support of the solutions. You will have the opportunity to travel to Cargill locations and work on different processes partnering with a diverse group of people.
Key Accountabilities
• Develop, validate, and deploy complex simulation and optimization models to drive strategic and tactical decisions.
• Apply various modeling techniques to generate solutions to complex technical challenges such as throughput increase, yield improvement, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas reduction using flowsheet-level models and/or detailed unit operation models.
• Develop projects and coordinate with other project team members.
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and project managers to transform business requirements into a business solution.
• Summarize and present validated results and actionable recommendations. Document and maintain assumptions, calculations, and results.
• Independently solve moderately complex technical issues, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications
INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
• Two or more years of related work experience (graduate, PDEng or PhD research included).
• Experience with chemical process modeling and simulation.
• Experience developing process simulation models and proposing process improvement solutions leveraging at least one of the related commercial software tools like Aspen Plus, Aspen Custom Modeler, gPROMS, or similar.
• Experience with object-oriented programming frameworks (for example, Python, Java, C++, or C#).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree or PhD in chemical engineering, process engineering, process systems engineering or a related field.
• Experience developing simulation and optimization models leveraging commercial software tools.
• Experience developing first-principles chemical engineering models and numerical analysis for energy efficiency, chemical kinetics, separation technologies, fermentation, or metabolic modeling.
• Experience developing models in one or more of the following: steady-state simulation, dynamic simulation, detailed unit operation models, flowsheet optimization or discrete event #LI-VB2
