Senior Platform Engineer

Job Mission

We are now looking for a passionate and experienced Platform Engineer to help us on our continued journey and growth within the House of Engineering. Within this area, we are focused on developing an experience that puts our engineers first and propels our tech stack toward a more scalable and sustainable future.

As a Senior Platform Engineer at Tibber, you will use your expertise to drive new ideas, initiatives, and their implementation to help us achieve an awesome engineering experience!

The platform team is all about optimising our engineering experience, leveraging smarter tooling and better practices to reach new heights of engineering productivity, and allowing our Engineers to solve harder problems easier and with less effort. Some of your responsibilities (but not limited to will include):

Productivity. Build, document, and support our “golden path” to unlock engineering productivity.

Best practices. Write and review RFCs that bring our engineering ways of working to the next level.

Documentation. Ensure the platform is well maintained and write crisp playbooks.

Create automations and tools. This will drive reuse and high maintainability.

Problem solving. Support and solve platform problems hand in hand with Engineers.

Collaboration and support. Evangelise engineering best practices and grow the technical skills of the team.

Measuring business goals. Gather and evaluate productivity metrics from systems, services, and teams to assist in increasing Engineer experience and engineering productivity.

Teamwork. Partner with engineering teams to improve our internal engineer portal based on backstage.io

⚡️⚡️ Ideally you have

Relevant expertise. You have a strong engineering background, keep yourself familiar with industry trends and product offerings, and can understand trade-offs to solutions.

Cloud knowledge. You possess knowledge and experience with networking and security on AWS or similar clouds.

Technical know-how. You have considerable experience with managed Kubernetes (GKE or EKS) and are comfortable writing maintainable Terraform code.

Integration and deployment expertise. You have experience setting up and optimising CI/CD tools for developer experience and some prior experience with different integration providers and deployment strategies.

High-level programming experience. You know how to write code in a high-level programming language such as C#, Typescript, Python, or Golang.

Monitoring and observability system use. You have used monitoring and observability systems like Prometheus or New Relic.

Empathy and patience. You feel passionate about ensuring our Engineers have the right tools, processes, and environment to maximise productivity and allowing them to create the greatest business value possible.

Engineering Portal familiarity. You have prior experience evolving and maintaining an engineering portal like backstage.io.
