Role and responsibilities

As Design Engineer in our Optical Sensors and Light Sources department you will be a key player in a multidisciplinary environment that further develops and improves the current and next generation optical sensors and light sources for our ASML machines. Collaboration and alignment with colleagues from the Mechanical, Electrical, and Software disciplines inside and outside ASML is a big part of the job. That’s why strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills are crucial in this dynamic environment.

You will use and demonstrate these skills and knowledge in several of the following activities: Analysis and modeling of the performance of our installed base leading-edge optical systems. Definition of requirements and design specifications to meet the system performance. Generate effective and creative optical solutions for improving the system performance

Dive deep into problems, analyze, write (MATLAB/ ZEMAX) simulations scripts

Development of opto-mechanical tools required during install and setup of the sensor. Integration, calibration and test of the optical sensors in our lithography systems. Support the production of these sensors and its use by the final customers. Build a strong sense of teamwork by understanding your colleagues’ roles and their challenges
 

Education and experience

  • Technical University, MSc or PhD in Physics or Engineering.
  • Proven experience or affinity with optics; preferably experienced with; functional design, optical simulation tools and testbench experience, non-linear optics and lasers.
  • Solid background on design of experiments, data analysis and presentation
  • Experience with hardware development, data analysis using MATLAB, ZEMAX for optical simulations or similar software tooling.
  • Preferably experienced in industry and working in multidisciplinary teams.

    ASML’s Development & Engineering (D&E) sector is responsible for the specification, design and realization of all products in the ASML portfolio. Within Mechatronic and Measurement Systems (MMS) D&E sector, the Light Sources, Level Sensors and Image Sensor departments are responsible for the definition, realization and qualification of various critical light sources and major measurement sensors and its application in all ASML products. The Sensors and Light Sources groups deliver all functionality related to the optical sensors used during the exposure of a wafer in the ASML machines, and the light sources are being used in various sensors within ASML products. These sensors have a major contribution to the overlay, focus, throughput and imaging machine performance of ASML systems. The Cluster is responsible for the physical and optical design of these light sources and sensors for EUV and DUV machines.
