Ops Engineer - Mobile Payments

Our Engineers are the heart of ING. We solve some of the hardest problems. Constantly experimenting and improving of both the way of working. You will be working within the IT area Cards. As an Ops Engineer you’ll be responsible for implementing new features: test and deploy and keeping our stack secure and operational. We release 1 time per month, but perhaps you can help us automating the pipeline even further?
 

Organisation
You will be working in the IT area Cards, for Tribe Payments NL. We develop and maintain all the IT systems for our Debit and Credit Cards: card issuing and LCM. Our systems also handle the transaction flow for 60% of the total Dutch card initiated payment traffic. We support international payment methods . credit, debit and mobile phones (ApplePay and Android).

Cards is working in a (Business)DevOps manner, where Scrum/Agile method and Continuous Delivery practices are very important.

Team

This vacancy is specifically for the Avengers team that focusses on the functionality for Mobile cards, enabling our customers to pay with virtual cards (Mastercard or Visa) on their phone. You will work as an OPS Engineer in a Scrum/DevOps team with 6 engineers. The Avengers team builds and maintains the ‘global common API’s’ that are used for the enrollment of mobile/virtual cards on the phones of ING customers from 7 European countries (ING Poland, Romania, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany).

The team is responsible for all activities of the software delivery lifecycle. Because the systems delivered by this team are critical components of our architecture, reliability of our systems is extremely important. Therefore, we expect you to take responsibility within the team on ensuring high availability ratings.

We want you to be a team player and take responsibility for realisation of the work committed to in the sprint planning.

Stack and tooling

In our stack we use RedHat Linux, JAVA APIs, NGINX, Oracle and a bunch of other technologies. Our supporting technologies are (ING) Private Cloud, Azure DevOps pipelines, Elastic, Prometheus.

Although we would like that you have a working knowledge of everything we use, we find it important that we know you are flexible and keen on learning new stuff.

What will you be doing?

Deploy changes/releases and produce the deliverables/evidence required by several related processes (. Risk, Change Control Board)
Automate deployments with Azure pipelines as part of continuous delivery.

Request and prepare network and firewall changes
Test the functionality of the APIs in cooperation with the teams from the consuming ING countries. Define dependencies with other teams and translate these to user story’s.
Support risk procedures and processes of ING, because we’re a bank.
Configure and maintain application monitoring and alerting with Elastic and Prometheus.
 

Do you recognize yourself in this profile?

The must haves:

  • You have at least three years of experience in Application Management in an RedHat Linux, Oracle environment
  • Have experience in setting up Application environment in a (Private) Cloud.
  • You know CD Tooling, like Azure DevOps pipelines, Ansible, Docker.
  • You have experience in setting up dashboards, monitoring and alerting.
  • You have experience in Shell scripting
  • You have strong analytical skills.
  • You have experience in an Agile/Scrum/Dev/Ops team.
  • You are a true team player.
  • You speak up, are transparent and not shy to confront somebody.
  • You speak English or Dutch.
