Job Description
The Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering Excellence is responsible for spearheading initiatives to enhance Systems Engineering practices across all Philips businesses.
This role involves leading, sponsoring, and operationalizing key workstreams focused on community building, knowledge sharing, training development and delivery, SE core activities, and patient safety and quality frameworks.
Your role:
As the Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering Excellence, your responsibilities encompass a multifaceted approach to drive progress in Systems Engineering practices across different business in Philips. This includes:
Community Building & Knowledge Sharing: Sponsor workstream leaders and their teams to foster communication and knowledge sharing within the Systems Engineering community. Operationalize initiatives to promote collaboration and learning, such as monthly calls, hackathons, workshops, demos, summits, and supplier days. Engage with Systems Engineering leads across businesses to facilitate knowledge exchange sessions, ensuring continuous feedback loops and representation of Systems Engineering in relevant forums. Embrace a measurable, impact-driven mindset to assess the effectiveness of these initiatives.
Training Development & Delivery: Sponsor workstream leaders and teams responsible for training development and delivery. Structure comprehensive Systems Engineering training programs covering awareness, foundational, and practitioner segments in collaboration with Philips University. Work closely with the Integrated Engineering Network (IEN) to ensure ownership and finalization of SE Practitioner training, and organize regular updates to training content. Identify qualified trainers, maintain a robust training pipeline, ensure training quality, and benchmark against industry standards. Collaborate with R&D leaders and HR to establish "train the trainer" programs, facilitating knowledge transfer and skill development across businesses.
SE Core: Sponsor workstream leaders and teams overseeing SE Core activities. Conduct maturity assessments across all Philips businesses and support or sponsor maturity improvement initiatives through "use case/pilot project" approaches. Collaborate with the Integrated Engineering Network (IEN) on defining subject matter expert (SME) roles in SE Framework calibration, and contribute to the development and implementation of SE Competence framework and Role Based Competence Management.
Patient Safety and Quality: Jointly develop verification strategies, risk management excellence frameworks, and requirements management excellence frameworks in collaboration with the Integrated Engineering Network (IEN) and relevant business stakeholders. Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulations, emphasizing patient safety and quality in all Systems Engineering practices.

You exhibit exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and analytical skills essential for navigating complex challenges effectively. Possess outstanding communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management abilities crucial for fostering collaboration and garnering support from diverse teams and partners.
You hold an advanced degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Business, or Healthcare Administration, further solidifying expertise and providing a strong foundation for driving excellence in Systems Engineering.
You show strong familiarity with healthcare systems, regulations, and standards, ensuring alignment with industry requirements and contributing to the advancement of patient safety and quality.
